We watched them

doing their tricks and jumps.

Up the ramp,

complete swivels,

down the ramp.

They looked liked children.

One was missing,

taken in the night.


No healing for his mother.

Infinite loss and pain.

I had judged him.

He was only a child.

I spoke poorly of him.

I didn’t know the young man he would become.

Then he was gone.
